I support deleting this article. zcrayfish (talk) 23:03, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
want to keep this article
i was totally happy there is at least one distro still supporting the 32-bit ALIXes the 3eth-port models are really cool for making small homeoffice-firewalls from discarded hardware. Let's call it 'upcycling' or 'reduction of carbon-footprint' :) I will try it over the easter-weekend and check the article. -- 21:35, 15 April 2025 Adagio
- Thanks for the note. Appreciate if you can update the page on the outcome of your testing. --Prabuanand (talk) 16:24, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
Also would like to keep this article
I'm in the process of configuring an old Alix board as a standalone OpenVPN server, and possibly other minor tasks - I'm happy to have found this page, and would have been quite sad to see a 404 upon clicking the search engine link.
I'll do my best to document the project and add it in case anyone else might find it useful.
Update: the AMD Geode LX800 doesn't support SSE2 and therefore many binaries and kernel modules are incompatible; I may go hunting to see what the last version of Alpine that didn't require SSE2 was, but I might not. For now, my project is a no-go.
