Desktop environments and Window managers
The desktop environment in Alpine has two main flavors: One supported officially by the Alpine desktop team and one by the community. The official desktops for Alpine are Xfce4 and LXDE and the community contributed desktops are Mate, AWM and the bigger Gnome

Alpine Desktops: Official Desktop
There's two official supported desktops, XFCE Desktop Environment and LXDE Desktop, that last make also available the Openbox Window Manager.
