:I agree. I renamed the section title. Would be nice if it was enabled by default everywhere; I am still seeing cases where having dualstack turned on by default causes issues, amazingly, in 2023... One of my dumbass ISPs, Optimum (Altice), still doesn't have IPv6, which is insane. | :I agree. I renamed the section title. The page used to say:
To set the system hostname, do something like the following: echo "hostname.domain.com" > /etc/hostname
However, setup-hostname only accepts short-form hostnames (without .domain.com
). Which is it?

IPv6 should not be optional
"Enabling IPv6 (Optional)"
The first presentation at SouthEast LinuxFest 2010 was titled "IPv6: No Longer Optional". That was 10 years ago. Please enable it by default.

- I agree. I renamed the section title. Would be nice if it was enabled by default everywhere; I am still seeing cases where having dualstack turned on by default causes issues, amazingly, in 2023... One of my dumbass ISPs, Optimum (Altice), still doesn't have IPv6, which is insane.

- It looks like Alpine loads ipv6 anyways, does not matter for me if it is in /etc/modules or not.

- A bit of cursory research shows that ipv6 is present in /etc/modules since at least Alpine v3.9. Thus I have removed the entire "Enabling IPv6" section since nothing there is applicable anymore.
