Release Notes for Alpine 1.9.0
Alpine 1.9.0 have the following new features:
- New faster, better package manager, apk-tools-2.0
- New build system, abuild (we no longer use Gentoo)
- New init system, openrc
- New toolchain (hardened gcc-4.4.1, uclibc 0.9.30.1)
- Support for hard-disk installs
- Support for SATA cdroms
- Updated kernel (2.6.30.8)
You cannot upgrade from 1n 1.8.x release to 1.9. A reinstall is required. Fortunally, that is just a question about copying over the apkovl and reboot ;)
