Alpine Linux:Trivia
This page contains only irrelevant and unhelpful information and statistics about Alpine Linux.
The first release
- The first saved release notes were made for 1.7.3.
- Archives going back to 1.1 are (currently) at http://ancient.alpinelinux.org
- First public mention of "Alpine Linux" is archived here: http://comments.gmane.org/gmane.linux.leaf.devel/1183 (2005)
The name
"Alpine" originally stood for A Linux Powered Integrated Network Engine. The idea was that the distribution would be focused on networking, and be a tiny "engine" or framework, which larger systems could be built upon. Today, "Alpine" is nothing more than a name.
How is working on Alpine Linux?
