As usual, download iso images[Dead Link] and tarballs for USB[Dead Link] from distrib-coffe[Dead Link].
The core packages have been through some changes so this release should be considered as a development release. Please do some testing before putting it in production.
LBU
Lbu can now keep backups so you can revert to older, good known config. Set BAKUP_LIMIT in /etc/lbu/lbu.conf to the number of backups you want to keep.
You can list the current backups with:
lbu list-backup [<media>]
and you can revert to an older with:
lbu revert <filename> [<media>]
Note that when you revert, the current apkovl on media will be backed up.
apk-tools
The APK_DATA variable have dissapeared. The repository database (INDEX.md5.gz) is now stored in $PACKAGES together with the packages. This makes it possible to point APK_PATH to a http repository and PACKAGES to /media/usb and you have made user you have the needed packages when you reboot.
The lbu databases are kept in the LBU_DBDIR.
To you users who have been using APK_DATA=/media/usb, you will need to change this. and you will avoid having the .tdb files on the usb with the packages.
apk_add will create symlinks rather than copying files to $PACKAGES when installing packages from an already mounted media.
apk_delete should be alot faster in this release.
alpine-baselayout
After boot you will have a /tmp/boot-time file indicating how long time boot process took. This is done to make it easier to improve boot speeds in future.
The way packages are loaded during boot is slightly modified. apk_add is only invoked once rather than once for every package. I could not note any difference in speed though.
The default dhcp client, udhcpc have got a config file: /etc/udhcpc/udhcpc.conf. If you set RESOLV_CONF to 'no' or blank, udhcpc will leave your resolv.conf alone.
If you have any files in /etc/udhcpc/{pre,post}-{up,down} those will be executed when you get or lose an ip lease.
Packages splitted
Openldap and libtool have been splitted into openldap/libldap and libtool/libltdl. This should improve the use of space for packages depending on those.
