apk add collectd

Configuration

Controlling Collectd

Start collectd

After the installation collectd is not running. To start collectd, use start.

rc-service collectd start

You will get a feedback about the status.

 * Starting collectd ...                                           [ ok ]

Alternatively you can also run collectd directly, from /usr/sbin/collectd

Stop collectd

If you want to stop the server use stop.

rc-service collectd stop

Restart collectd

After changing the configuration file collectd needs to be restarted.

rc-service collectd restart

Runlevel

Normally you want to start the collectd server when the system is launching. This is done by adding collectd to the needed runlevel.

rc-update add collectd default

 * service collectd added to runlevel default
