I am researching into the feasibility of combining the function of a normal home router with a gateway that control the home automation devices.

1) It has normal home router functions, dial up adsl modem, package forward and blocking, probably using iptables.

2) It has a home web page that run under a web server like apache / nginx or similar.

3) It can run a HA gateway program that communicate with the actual devices like light switch, air cond, alarm, music center etc.

The HA gateway would allow the phone or door control panel to link via socket, so that the client side program would be simply
involved in gui and sending simple command to device indirectly.

4) It also act as home cloud server and gateway to external cloud.

I call it OPH (One Per Home) with believe that eventually every home would have a device like this, no different from to have a router
but, a router with a lot more capability.

anyone interested in such project?
